Левые (прогрессивные) взгляды в политике подразумевают борьбу за изменение существующего порядка. Это предоставляет возможность людям правых (консервативных) взглядов упирать на патриотизм и сохранение существующих правил. Нынешняя ситуация создает запрос на здоровый центризм: отстаивание существующих демократических институтов от их искажения трампизмом.

После смерти Маккейна я ждал, кто из политических лидеров сможет эти идеи выразить. Пока что ближе всего предсказуемо подошла Хиллари Клинтон, написав послесловие к своей книжке:

Вслед Маккейну и Обаме Клинтон явным образом отсылает к Декларации независимости: "The message [Trump] sends by his lack of concern and respect for some Americans is unmistakable. He is saying that some of us don’t belong, that all people are not created equal, and that some are not endowed by their Creator with the same inalienable rights as others."

Клинтон называет пять проблем трампизма:

First, there is Donald Trump’s assault on the rule of law.
Second, the legitimacy of our elections is in doubt.
Third, the president is waging war on truth and reason.
Fourth, there’s Trump’s breathtaking corruption.
Fifth, Trump undermines the national unity that makes democracy possible.

И призывает к "братству" американцев в борьбе за демократию:

There are concrete steps that would help, like greatly expanding national-service programs and bringing back civics education in our schools. We also need systemic economic reforms that reduce inequality and the unchecked power of corporations and give a strong voice to working families. And ultimately, healing our country will come down to each of us, as citizens and individuals, doing the work—trying to reach across divides of race, class, and politics and see through the eyes of people very different from ourselves. When we think about politics and judge our leaders, we can’t just ask, “Am I better off than I was four years ago?” We have to ask, “Are we better off? Are we as a country better, stronger, and fairer?” Democracy works only when we accept that we’re all in this together.

Новая тактика - запрашивать по повестке секретные документы из расследования с тем, чтобы либо слить их Трампу, либо получить повод для импичмента Рода Розенштейна в случае отказа.

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.), one of Trump’s leading allies on the Hill, privately urged Republican colleagues Tuesday to consider holding Rosenstein and FBI Director Christopher A. Wray in contempt of Congress if the Justice Department does not provide him with documents he has sought about the Russia probe in coming days.
Nunes is readying proceedings and keeping several House Republicans briefed on his plans, including members of the Judiciary Committee and the Oversight and Government Reform Committee, according to two people familiar with the discussions.
Nunes has also spoken in the past week with members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, which has been supportive of Trump, about how a potential contempt effort could unfold.

Незабываемый образ из книжки Путина про крысу, загнанную в угол, имеет более важный сакральный смысл, чем просто окно в психологию этого ущербного социопата. Российская пропаганда потому и оказывается такой успешной, что затрагивает струны самосознания, укорененного в русской культуре.

Другим похожим образом служит метель, сакральность которой гениально вскрыта писателем Сорокиным. Психология замкнутого пространства созвучна психологии метели, можно сказать метельному менталитету. Для проникновения в этот менталитет требуется прежде всего ощутить себя жертвой в руках превосходящих сил, которые совершают несправедливость, отбирая нечто, принадлежащее по праву. Ситуация борьбы с превосходящими силами принуждает бороться за справедливость, выходя за рамки правил, ибо выиграть по правилам невозможно. Отсюда и пресловутые герои Достоевского, и знаменитая гоголевская шинель.

Этот сакральный сюжет резонирует среди российских ватников, когда ситуацию вокруг захвата Крыма они представляют как неравную борьбу с превосходящими силами США и НАТО за несправедливо отобранную территорию. Этот же сюжет резонирует среди американских неватников, когда ситуацию с Трампом на выборах они представляют, как неравную борьбу с захватившими прессу и Голливуд либералами за несправедливо отобранные привилегии. В обоих случаях вранье и жульничество центральных персонажей не осуждаются, а напротив приветствуются, как единственный возможный способ победить превосходящие силы, настроившие правила в свою пользу.
